MHTTC System of Care Training on Suicide Prevention Strategies

Please join us on May 29, 2019 for a training for Board, community, coalition, organizational, and clinical leaders on developing suicide prevention strategies through a culturally competent lens. Our trainers will be Randi Tolliver, Ph.D., CADC and Ann Schissel, Ph.D., L.P., of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. The System of Care Training on Suicide Prevention Strategies learning objectives are as follows:

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Learn how to promote and implement effective clinical and professional practices for assessing and treating those identified as being at risk for suicidal behaviors.
    • Develop strategies to fully integrate knowledge about suicide into multiple layers of the systems
    • Identify gaps in care that suicidal individuals fall through and identify clinical evidence to close these gaps
  • Understand how to create an inclusive and safe community environment that:
    • Respects and responds to diverse cultural needs and preferences when dealing with suicide 
    • Recognizes signs and symptoms of suicide in all individuals involved in the organization and systems
    • Cultivates open dialogue about cultural considerations in relation to suicide
    • Promotes awareness of clinician burnout and offers support to those working with suicidal clients

The Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities (OACBHA) has been named as the State of Ohio partner for the Great Lakes Region 5 Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC). The region 5 effort is being led by the Center for Health Enhancement Systems Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
