MHTTC System Level Implementation of Trauma-Informed Care Training

Event Description
Please join us on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, for a training geared towards coalition, community, clinical, and Board leadership on building trauma-informed and responsive systems of care through a culturally competent lens. Our trainers will be Randi Tolliver, Ph.D., CADC, and Ann Schissel, Ph.D., L.P., of the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation. The System Level Implementation of Trauma Informed Care Training learning objectives are as follows:

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Build a trauma-informed and responsive system of care that:
    • Realizes stress, adversity and trauma as they impact the individual and organization, and understands the multiple paths for recovery
    • Recognizes signs and symptoms of trauma in all individuals involved in the organization and systems
    • Responds by fully integrating knowledge about trauma into multiple layers of the system, and
    • Resists re-traumatization
  • Understand and promote cultural and linguistic differences related to trauma through formal and informal methods (e.g., creation of shared language and tools)
  • Recognize and address implicit & explicit biases that impact systems of care
  • Be open to new approaches, such as forming partnerships with others in the community to enhance efforts

The Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities (OACBHA) has been named as the State of Ohio partner for the Great Lakes Region 5 Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC). The region 5 effort is being led by the Center for Health Enhancement Systems Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
